Veteran modernist Charles Gwathmey '62BArch is designing this addition to the Art & Architecture Building for the History of Art department. (Yale had originally commissioned Richard Meier, but parted ways with him.) The new building’s planes and curved wall recall the sleek International Style modernism that Paul Rudolph was reacting against in the original A&A, a landmark of the Brutalist school.
