In the renovations of the residential colleges, great care has been taken above ground to respect the original architecture. But the more utilitarian basements have been turned into twenty-first-century hives of activity. Davenport College’s squash court was transformed into a well-equipped theater and auditorium by Kieran Timberlake Associates. The basements also offer computer centers, fitness rooms, and TV rooms.
