One of the surprise hits of the last decade in campus architecture is 8 Prospect Place, a temporary home for the political science department designed by Centerbrook Architects and built from 21 modular units. Nicknamed “the diner” by students because of its steel skin, it was singled out for praise by Professor Vincent Scully, who called it “neat and alert and lively on its site, and beautifully equipped within.” Expect a fight when it’s time to tear it down.
