The Cabinet

The Cabinet, 1819–1890
Built as Yale’s second Commons, this Federal-style building was later known as the Cabinet when it housed two exceptional “cabinets"or collectionsof minerals. Still later, it housed the physics and astronomy departments before it came down along with most of the rest of Yale’s antebellum buildings in the 1890s.
