The move to consolidate central campus utilities in a single facility and cogenerate electricity and steam required a multiyear $80 million overhaul and expansion of the 1917 structure. The renovation project, which doubled the size of the plant, was completed in 1997, but already plans are in the works for significant further expansion to meet projected needs. |
