More recently, other universities have built new colleges. Rice University is planning two new colleges. The designs, by Hopkins Architects and Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas & Company, are basically modern in their expression but match the shape, size, and scale of the campus’s more traditional buildings.
Princeton completed its sixth college, Whitman, in 2007. Designed by Demetri Porphyrios, a British architect who works in historical styles, Whitman is a literal interpretation of Princeton’s early-twentieth-century architecture.
